Minutes of Middle Township Fire District #2 Meeting January 15, 2026
Meeting called to order at 7PM by Chairman Robert W. Zimmerman. Mr. Zimmerman stated that notice had been given to the
Herald Newspapers, the official paper and posted on the bulletin board of the Middle Township Municipal Hall as required by P.L.
197, c231, the Sunshine Law. Roll Call was taken with Commissioners Robert Zimmerman, Conrad Johnson, Jenifer Sill and
Gregory Neill in attendance. Rio Grande Fire Company Secretary Robert Sweeten was present to record minutes for Secretary
Jean Zimmerman who was absent.
Also in attendance were Rio Grande Fire Company Asst. Chief John Kendrick, Rio Grande Fire Company President Larry
Forsyth and Scott A. Sill.
Minutes of the December 18, 2025 Fire District Meeting were approved on Motion by Gregory Neill, 2nd by Conrad Johnson.
COMMUNICATION: none at this time
OLD BUSINESS: none at this time
NEW BUSINESS: Commissioners Robert Zimmerman and Conrad Johnson have turned in Notarized Petitions for the February
21, 2026 Fire District Elections.
FIRE BUREAU: Chairman Zimmerman attended the Middle Township Fire District #1 Meeting. He attended in regards to the
merger of Fire District #2 Fire Bureau into Fire District #1’s Fire Bureau.
• Fire Official Doug Greenberg will be asking for an increase to hire an administrative assistant.
• Chairman Zimmerman also had a meeting with Fire Official Greenberg, Sue Casey, Julio Rivera Jr. and Mike Johnson.
Doug has no problem with our inspectors continuing inspections at this time. We will continue with the same fees.
• Doug also said that his door is open and he is available via phone for any questions or concerns.
CHIEF’S REPORT:
• RGFC Asst. Chief John Kendrick said the Fire Company answered 430 calls in 2025 and are up to 16 calls for 2026.
• The Fire Company has one FF attending FF1 that starts on January 20th. No one from the Company is signed up for
FF2 at this time.
• New portable radios came in and have been programmed, they are just waiting on the chargers and microphones.
• Fire Company has one set of gear that Chuck Fisher from Continental Fire and Safety will be picking up due to damage
that may have occurred during a car fire on Rt. 9 a month or so ago. He is going to check to see if it is covered under
any warranty. He will let them know.
• Asst. Chief Kendrick also went over the RGFC 2026 Line Officers and radio numbers.
LOSAP: LOSAP Contact Person Robert Sweeten stated that the 2025 LOSAP numbers were posted on January 14th
. There is a
30 day appeal for any member to contest their points if they disagree. There are 22 members who made the required amount of
points.
FIRE APPARATUS Coordinator: Robert Sweeten reported Barry from Fire and Safety Services has started the service on Tanker
72 and will then move on to the Quint and Squad. Also, the battery was replaced on the 2014 Ford Expedition (Fire Bureau
Vehicle). The 2025 Year End Apparatus Report was given to the Fire District for their records.
PUBLIC: RGFC Secretary Robert Sweeten presented an application for Jenifer Ferrer-Gonzalez to join the NJ State Firemen’s
Association. The application was approved on Motion by Conrad Johnson, 2nd by Gregory Neill.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Bills presented were approved on Motion by Gregory Neill, second by Conrad Johnson.
