Meetings and Reports

April 20, 2023 – Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Robert Zimmerman. Mr. Zimmerman stated that notice had been given to the Herald Newspapers, the official paper and is posted on the bulletin board of the Middle Township Municipal Hall as required by P.L. 1975, c231, the Sunshine Law.

ROLL CALL

Roll call was taken with commissioners Robert Zimmerman, Conrad Johnson, Jenifer Sill, and Jean Zimmerman present. Also present were Rio Grande Fire Chief Howard Graham, Assistant Fire Chief Jim Belles, Bob Sweeten. J. Gregory Neill, Richard Braslow, Attorney and David McNally, CPA of Holt McNally and Associates, were absent.

COMMUNICATION

Jean Zimmerman mentioned that Anne Marie Becica, Middle Township Receptionist, had emailed the Financial Disclosure Statement to everyone to be filed before April 30, 2023.

OLD BUSINESS

Jenifer Sill reported that Comcast installation is scheduled to set up the devices for the internet and six (6) phone lines on April 24, 2023 between 8-10am.

NEW BUSINESS

Bob Sweeten said the LOSAP paperwork is completed. Chairman Robert Zimmerman needs to sign the document, and then the paperwork can be sent along with their check to Lincoln Financial to finish the year.

Bob Sweeten attended a Safety Meeting with the township several weeks ago. Action needs to be taken for all members who use the fire company and/or district computers. They have to take a cyber course. OSHA and township want fire extinguishers checked on a monthly basis in all township insured buildings and marked on the back of the tags. Also, all breaker panels in the station need ARC/Warning stickers.

Bob Sweeten mentioned that Middle Township is bringing in Medical Diagnostic Company to Township Hall for testing probably early June for three (3) days. Free to members. The township will also be checking drivers’ licenses once a year of every member, employee who drives vehicles.

CHIEF’S REPORT

90 fire calls; fire calls at Dutchman Motel and a lightning strike in Shannon Oak; April 7th there was an overturned truck carrying 350 gallons of paint and 30 gallons of gasoline; April 11th the tanker went to Seaville to assist in a campground trailers fire; two (2) members went to Sea Isle City to help with fire police detail on April 19th; CPR training is scheduled for April 26th; sprinkler demo on May 24th at 7 pm; tanker axle seal is fixed and the check engine light. Robert Zimmerman spoke with the chief about a skid unit for the pickup truck. Chief Graham said he has quotes for 100 and 200 gallons.

FIRE BUREAU

None at this time.

TREASURER’S REPORT

Robert Zimmerman read the bills, motion by resolution to pay the bills by Conrad Johnson, second Jenifer Sill, of $60,999.52. Motion carried. Robert Zimmerman stated that two (2) accounts are being closed out at OceanFirst. They are a CD and a Money Market that will be transferred to Sturdy Savings.
