MIDDLE TOWNSHIP FIRE DISTRICT #2

July 16, 2026

Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Robert W. Zimmerman. Mr. Zimmerman
stated that notice had been given to the Herald Newspapers, the official paper and is posted on
the bulletin board of the Middle Township Municipal Hall as required by P.L. 1975, c231, the
Sunshine Law.
Roll call was taken with commissioners Robert W. Zimmerman, Conrad J. Johnson, Jenifer D.
Sill, and Jean M. Zimmerman present. Also present were Rio Grande Assistant Fire Chief John
Kendrick, Rio Grande Fire Company President Larry Forsyth, and Bob Sweeten. James G. Neill,
Richard Braslow, Attorney and Leon Costello, Ford Scott CPA were absent.
COMMUNICATION: none at this time
OLD BUSINESS: Robert Zimmerman commented that the grant has been submitted and have
heard nothing back yet.
NEW BUSINESS: Bob Sweeten, Fire Apparatus Coordinator report: Barry from F&SS replaced
the air piston on Tanker 72 officer door steps for a cost of $1,448.75; *he spoke to John Miller
from Shop One about repairing the air conditioning on Quint 72. Due to some recent surgery,
he is looking to be here in about two (2) weeks to replace the hose in the system that he
believes is causing the AC to not work properly; *the Utility and Brush trucks are coming up
next for servicing.
Bob Sweeten asked about the two (2) Fire Bureau vehicles that are currently on loan to Fire
District #1. He talked of transferring ownership but may need to get duplicate titles first. Fire
District #1 is insured by JIF also.
CHIEF’S REPORT: 260 fire calls; Annual SCBA flow testing was done today and tomorrow; *aerial
and ladder testing will be done July 21 st ; *airbags have been installed in Brush 72 at D.A.D.’s
mechanic shop and sits much better now; *six (6) new sets of gear that were ordered, came in
and are in service; *hose testing was done June 24 th , with three (3) lengths of 5” fail. Two (2)
were under warranty and were repaired by Chuck from Continental Fire where we bought the
hoses from. We have to replace the one length that was 20 years old and has already been
ordered; *Hurst tools had their PM done on July 9 th and everything was good; *waiting on the
start date for FF1 for our two (2) firefighters; *would like to have the AC fixed on the Quint.
Haven’t been using it because it’s been too hot. – see Bob Sweeten, Fire Apparatus
Coordinator’s remark about the AC.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Robert W. Zimmerman read the bills, motion by resolution to pay the
bills by Conrad Johnson, second Jenifer Sill, of $52,313.65. Jenifer Sill mentioned that she
deposited the reimbursement check of $3,318 for the six (6) damaged gears. Jenifer said she
sent a follow up email to Ford, Scott in regards to our audit but has not received any response.
